Online, March 29, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The sixth annual Delaware 5K and Wilson Walk will be dedicated to local residents Ann and Jerry Wilson for their longstanding support and generosity of the race since its inception in 2010. Through the Wilson's unconditional love and efforts, as well as those of the families from the area who have lost loved ones to brain aneurysms, the Delaware 5K and Walk helps to raise money to fund research to cure brain aneurysms, which are also known as the silent killer, that affects an estimated 30,000 people in the United States every year.

All proceeds from this annual event will benefit the work of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF), an internationally non-profit organization renowned for their work in raising awareness about brain aneurysms as well as for their support of Arterial Vascular Medical (AVM) research.

"Part of the work of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation is to get resources to doctors and researchers who are working to prevent brain aneurysm ruptures," said Christine Buckley, BAF Executive Director, "The impact of our work greatly depends on the success of fundraising events like the one on this special day in Newark, Delaware. Our goal as an organization is to raise awareness and end the fear of this devastating disease."

As this event enters its sixth year, organizers of the race say they hope to continue raising awareness, financial support and educating the general public about AVM disease in order to save lives. The event begins at 8 a.m. with registration followed by the start of the race at 9 a.m.

The registration fee is $30 for the 5K race and one mile walk. Free parking is available at Glasgow Park as well as at the YMCA.
