Global Leader in Brain Aneurysm Awareness and Education Offers Valuable Insight Via Online Blog

There is something for everyone affected by brain aneurysms on the Brain Aneurysm Foundation online blog.

Whether you are a medical practitioner, caregiver, survivor, or family of a loved one affected by a brain aneurysm - there is truly something for everyone affected by brain aneurysms on the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's online blog.

The Foundation's online blog contains valuable and varied information, and is a key resource of information for doctors, nurses, caregivers, patients and their families. A small sampling of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's blog topics include:

  • "The Case for a Virtual Brain Aneurysm Clinic" by Brandon K. Root, MD and Robert J. Singer, MD of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center
  • "Applying for Social Security Benefits After a Brain Aneurysm," by Deanna Power, Outreach Manager, Social Security Disability Organization
  • "Development of Blood-Based Biomarkers for Brain Aneurysm Detection," by Vince Tutino, PhD candidate and Hui Meng, PhD, Professor at the Toshiba Stroke and Vascular Research Center, University at Buffalo
  • "Cheryl's Journey - We Don't Give Up & Neither Should You," by Scott Campbell, husband of a survivor

The Foundation's latest blog post, "Progesterone Ameliorates Cerebral Vasospasm and Improves Outcomes" was written by Gustavo Pradilla, MD of Emory University and 2014 recipient of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's Kristen's Legacy of Love Chair of Research. Dr. Pradilla's recent blog provides valuable insight into his project that targets an investigation of the effect of progesterone, a reproductive cycle hormone and a potent neurosteroid with neuroprotective properties, in a rodent model of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Dr. Pradilla noted, "Our results from both basic science and clinical research suggest a possible beneficial effect of sex hormones in the outcome of subarachnoid hemorrhage and further studies will clarify the potential for a clinical trial of progesterone in subarachnoid hemorrhage."

Brain Aneurysm Foundation blogs are posted often and can be found easily on the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's website at www.bafound.org/blogs.
